Let's Get Caught Up
Fel Funk Demo

Hi Folks!

We can't quite believe it but it's been 4 years since Felonious Funk first impressed audiences with our way-above-average execution of the best Pop, Funk and Soul. Looks like more people are starting to notice too! Gigs are pouring in right and left, so it's time to get with it and let you know what we've been up to and where we'll be playing in the months to come because it feels like 4 years since we've sent out one of these newsletters! Actually it's been almost a year and a half...and in that time we've been kept busy playing and booking assorted new public venues, a bunch of private parties and even several weddings. Guess we're finally on the map!

Check out our funky "New" Demo craftily put together by Steve, which seems to be working like a charm! Just click on the boombox and it will start to play automatically. While you're there, check out our other website changes too... like our photo slide show and our Two Cool page!

Two Cool w/white letters
...Speaking of Two Cool.... Steve & Eileen have branched out and have also been playing as a duo this past year. Since "dance clubs" are at a minimum on the Cape these days, we've had to switch it up a bit and play smaller and more intimate venues. We describe ourselves as "a duo specializing in smooth grooves, combining the popular music of today with classic standards from the past". Since it's inception, we've played everywhere from the March of Dimes Telethon on local TV and the Asa Grill in Hyannis to Gingie's Boutique and Hanlon's Shoes... like I said, some of these are "smaller" venues. However, it's been a good opportunity for Steve to break out his jazz chops and has given Eileen a chance to show the mellower side of her voice. Currently we can be seen regularly at Uno's in Hyannis and The Compass Rose Summer Shanty in Dennis and we'll be back at the Blue Coral in Chatham in July.

More info on all venues below.

C Rose 2008

Pay no attention to their online schedule, it hasn't been updated since last Spring! So I can't tell you when - but here's some of the local talent you can catch there this summer. Grumpy's website
New Venue! Fel Funk is back playing in the Falmouth area again. Grumpy's Pub, one of the oldest watering holes on the Cape and the self- proclaimed "last dive in town" is adding Thursday nights to it's entertainment schedule. Looks like we're the "guinea pigs" and being tried out in this time slot...and it's a late one...9:30PM - 1:00AM on Thursday, May 22nd. Be there if you dare!

From the Grumpy's Web-site ... I'm not Kidding!

Welcome to Grumpy's Pub. The last dive in town. We have the best damn music on the planet or at least on the Cape. Including the most eclectic jukebox in New England. You'll be sure to find something you like. Grumpy's also has food, but right now we wouldn't suggest eating it.

Cape Cod Nightlife website
Yes, we're talking about the pizza chain restaurant...or as it is now called "Uno's Chicago Grill". This is the only Uno's that offers weekly entertainment. You can find most of the veteran Cape music acts from the Star City Grill days doing their turn here on any given week - Thursday thru Sunday. Two Cool has been a part of their rotating schedule since this past September. Guess that means we're becoming veterans ourselves.

Upcoming dates:   9:30 - 12:30
Friday, May 16th
Thursday, May 29th
Thursday, June 26th
Friday, July 11th

Trowbridge website
We've actually found another place to play that has entertainment year-round and hires "dance bands"... or should I say they found us. Thanks to the recommendation of one of our loyal fans...Thanks Carol! I'm talking about The Trowbridge Tavern. It doesn't have much of a dance floor but people get up and do their thing wherever they can here. Good food and free popcorn too! We will be back for our 3rd engagement there on Friday, May 23rd from 9:30-12:30.

100 Trowbridge Rd. - Bourne, MA (off the Bourne rotary)

Here's what the Trowbridge has to say:

The Trowbridge Tavern awaits you just across the Bourne Bridge. It's location is perfect for all Cape Cod visitors on their way to the lower Cape, or as a destination for upper Cape tourists. Residing in the Best Western Bridge- Bourne Hotel, the clientele is made up mostly of tourists and many locals.
Cultural Center website
The Cultural Center of Cape Cod offers a variety of events that feature local artists in all genres - from music, to poetry reading, to fine art displays and classes. Felonious Funk made it's first appearance this past April at one of their bi-monthly Friday Night Music Cafes. We were such a hit, we've been asked back to be the entertainment at the Center's upcoming dedication reception for their founding sponsors on May, 24th. We will also be back later in the summer or early fall for another Music Cafe. So if you're looking for a place to go dancing... just a $10 cover and BYOB. Date yet to be dertermined.

The former headquarters of the Bass River Savings bank is a historic brick structure built in the 1930s. The interior features exquisite woodwork and trim detail, a beautiful main lobby area with 23-foot-high ceilings and private meeting rooms and offices. Included in the project is the former Owl Club building, adjacent to the old bank building.

Millbrook G&T Club
Fel Funk hits the road and is heading once again to Eileen's home town of Millbrook, NY to play 2 private parties in June. (Actually we just go for Doreen's food). This time around we won't be playing any public venues (maybe in the early Fall)...but will be back at the Millbrook Golf & Tennis Club to kick off their season with a Summer Solstice Dinner Dance on the 20th. Even the country club set can get down with the Funk! Then it's on to celebrate the 50th birthday of one of Eileen's childhood friends... and....yes, that means Eileen turned 50 this year too. And to quote Sally O'Malley..."she can kick and split and kick...she's 50"!...and still funky.
Hy-Line website
We're back again for more "hy-jinx" on the high seas. Join us with a group of your friends for a 3-hour Tour. Cruising along the Cape Cod Canal on the Hy- Line's Moonlight & Music Cruise with the sounds of Felonious Funk is always a fun way to spend a summer evening.

Setting Sail -
Saturday, July 19th & Saturday, August 23rd
Boat leaves dock at 8:00PM & returns at 11:00PM

Reservations recomended. These cruises fill-up, especially when Fel Funk's on board!
Popponesset
This marks our 4th summer season appearing at Cape Cod's favorite outdoor family venue. All kinds of fun stuff for the kiddies - Mini Golf - Ice Cream - Pizza and for the grownups the best Lobster Rolls on the Cape. (However you might have to take out a loan to afford one - but they're worth it!) Popponesset Marketplace has it all!   Including Felonious Funk -
Sunday, July 27th & Sunday, August 24th.

Entrain website
Felonious Funk will be opening for Entrain!

Chip's dream is realized and he will be sharing the stage with Tom Major. He is so psyched to play this gig he's even driving back from his vacation in Upstate NY to do it! For those of you not from the area....Entrain is a 6-piece band based out of Martha's Vineyard that have become a national touring act. They are a drum/rhythm-heavy band who play a fusion of World, Soul, Funk & Blues music. We will be the opening act for them at the Project Arts Concert series in Plymouth on Wednesday, August 13th. Apparantly this venue draws thousands!

Project Arts of Plymouth, Inc. is a Massachusetts non-profit corporation whose stated purpose is "to encourage and promote all forms of musical and/or artistic expression."

All of the shows for the 2008 Project Arts Summer Concert Series in Plymouth are free to the public. They are held outdoors and are therefore subject to cancellation or relocation if there is inclement weather
.

Concerts are held on the historic Plymouth waterfront (Pilgrim Memorial Park - Water Street)
6:30pm - 9:30pm
Canal Region Chamber
Fel Funk will be part of the Cape Cod Canal Concerts in the Park series. These free outdoor concerts are performed every Thursday in July and August from 6:30 - 8:30 in Buzzard's Bay Park. We will be making our debut appearance on Thursday, July 24th.

Bring your family, your lawn chair and your picnic basket!

Blue Coral website
The Blue Coral is an all outdoor restaurant and bar set in the heart of downtown Chatham - yet secluded from the hustle and bustle of Main Street. Located right next door to the Chatham Squire - down the flagstone pathway in the rear of The Mayflower Shop among the gardens. Great menu, great atmosphere! Two Cool appearing only once this summer on Saturday, July 26th.
Bay Club

Country Clubs R Us! We will be playing a private function at the Bay Club at Mattapoisett in August. Seems like we're starting to book more and more off-Cape venues. We're still not sure how these people are finding us but we're not complaining!
